Mustang and Lincoln's January Sales Withstood Rough Winter Weather

JACKSON, Mich - It is safe to say that with snow fall totaling up to 40 inches and temperatures dropping to record lows since 1942; this Michigan winter was one for the books. Fortunately enough for Ford Motor Company, Mustang and Lincoln's January sales withstood the rough winter weather and were able to come out on top at the end of the month. Although Ford's total of 156,644 vehicle sales are down 7 percent from a year ago and retail sales of 113,721 vehicles are off by 5 percent, the Mustang and Lincoln brand didn't encounter such losses. 

There were a few troubling circumstances due to the weather that Ford had to overcome. The weather impacted the timing of fleet deliveries and they considered themselves fortunate to keep retail sales at the percentage it was. However, there were some positive outcomes of this brutal winter. A total of 3,881 Mustangs sold in the month of January and made for the best beginning-of-year performance since 2010! 

Lincoln was also a bright light at the end of the tunnel. The Lincoln brand had seen the strongest sales in four years throughout the month of January. Lincoln sales are up 43 percent, bringing in a total of 5,973 sold vehicles in the month of January. The increase of the sales were mainly from the Lincoln MKZ, with 2,122 vehicles sold, and the Lincoln MKX, with 2,479 vehicles sold.
