The custom 2014 Ford Mustang GT had a leading role in the blockbuster hit "Need for Speed", released in early March. At the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company's West Palm Beach event last Saturday, a lucky bidder by the name of Dave Flynn didn't acquire just any ole Mustang. Aside from the fact that this factory-special, high-profile Ford Mustang is a Hollywood star, it is also a huge contributor in helping to provide more people with healthcare opportunities.

No Body Double Necessary for the Ford Mustang in "Need for Speed"

JACKSON, Mich - No Body Double Necessary for the Ford Mustang in "Need for Speed" because this time around, the 2014 Ford Mustang GT had done all of its own stunts. Director Scott Waugh, felt that this film needed an authentic touch and that computer-generated images just wouldn't do. As former stuntman, Waugh understands the law of physics and that in order to execute a realistic film, you have to keep the physics in touch with the characters and storyline.

For superhero, science fiction and fantasy films, computer-generated images are the perfect choice. However, for telling the story of Toby Marshall's journey across the country, this requires more believable shots. Seven modified 2014 Ford Mustangs were used for filming -only three survived- and were all strategically shot to give the audience that thrilling ride experience  More than 40 different digital cameras were used to get all of the needed angles and images of the Mustang. When on-the-road sequences were shot, a Supercharged 2013 Mustang GT was used as a camera car to capture the close-in action shots.

Actors who were lucky enough to get behind the wheel of the hero car were required to take a training course at the Willow Springs International Motorsports Park in California. They were taught how to handle the Mustang when drifting around corners and how to hit the precise marks the director wanted when driving. Professional stunt drivers, like Vaughn Gittin Jr. for instance, required no additional training. Gittin is a champion drifter and easily whipped the 2015 Ford Mustang around to the exact place Scott Waugh wanted it.
