Ford Bronco and Ranger Could Make a Return in 2018

JACKSON, Mich. – Saddle up because two of America’s favorite vehicles from Ford Motor Co., the Ford Bronco and Ford Ranger, could make a return in 2018.

News of the Bronco comes at the heels of a recent rumor disclosing Ford's plans to manufacture the Ranger at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne by 2018. Ford currently builds the Focus and C-Max at the Wayne plant, but plans to move that production to Mexico in 2018, potentially creating the perfect space for two Ford classics.

The era of the Ranger ended in 2011 for America when Ford’s last midsize pickup came off the line at Twin Cities Assembly Plant in Minnesota. However, the Ranger continues to sell in 180 global markets outside of the U.S., and is now manufactured in Nigeria, South Africa, Thailand, and Nigeria.

Ford discontinued the Bronco in 1996 after 30 years at the Wayne plant to make room for the Expedition, which eventually moved to Kentucky Truck for production. The first glint of a possible resurrection occurred when Ford exhibited a new Bronco concept at the 2004 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Ford is negotiating a contract with the United Auto Workers in regards to bringing Ranger and Bronco production to the Wayne plant. The union and must decide if both vehicles would fit well at the plant and with its 4,500 workers, and then Ford’s board of directors must approve the decision.

It’s likely the reason for why the Ford Bronco and Ford Ranger could make a return in 2018 stems from a recent uptick in brands producing trucks for the midsize truck segment – the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, and Nissan Frontier – as well as growing sales from Jeep, which produced vehicles similar to what Ford envisions the Bronco competing against.

You have to wonder if Ford has always had intentions to bring the Ranger and Bronco back to the U.S. Considering the excitement surrounding the probably return of these vehicles, we’re guessing it was a strategic move on Ford’s part. Trails Meet Their Match in 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

JACKSON, Mich. – If you’ve ever hit the trails in a pickup, you know how dirty and dangerous things can get. But it's time to forget those days because the trails have met their match in the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor.

The new trail-conquering pickup from Ford Motor Co. is literally a mix of components taken from the 2015 F-150 and Raptor. Together these two trucks – both extremely popular and touted as the best – form the most dynamic pickup we’ve seen on the trails.

The heightened ground clearance provides more space between the ground and the chassis, while the shock absorption technology reduces and bolsters suspension travel over rough terrain.

Additionally, and as expected, the 2017 F-150 Raptor is built with an all-new four-wheel drive, torque-on-demand transfer case that sends power to the front and rear wheels and combines focal points of clutch-driven, on-demand all-wheel drive with mechanical-locking four-wheel drive.
