3 Ford Performance Vehicles to Get Excited About

JACKSON, Mich.–– All the news, photos, and buzz surrounding Ford's presence at NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) has us really excited! There are so many great standard and even electric vehicle nameplates Ford has to offer now, or soon, that have taken stage in the blue oval at the Auto Show. While the current vehicles are stunning, the performance vehicles are for true car fans and gearheads. We're here to highlight the 3 Ford performance vehicles to get excited about.

Ford Focus RS

The 2016 Ford Focus has just rolled onto the streets of Germany and will be arriving in the U.S. this spring. Before RS became a buzz term, the first rally sport model was the Ford 15M RS manufactured and sold in Europe, which topped out at 96 mph. Fast forward to now where the Ford Focus RS can run 0–62 mph in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 165 mph with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine This is the fastest accelerating Ford RS model yet and the first to include an industry exclusive drift mode and launch control.

Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew

2010 brought us the first SVT Raptor, which no longer wore the blue oval emblem, but contained the Ford name in the grille. It was discontinued in 2015 and 2016, but is back to make big moves and will be available this fall. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew offers more interior room, a lighter weight by 500 pounds, enhanced suspension, and redesigned beadlock-capable wheels. This Raptor was designed with a Baja race truck in mind with the goal of making it faster for rocky and sandy landscapes. The biggest change is the 3.5L EcoBoost 10-speed transmission to make it more efficient on the road, plus the torque-on-demand transfer case to give it more strength off-road. Not to mention, the awesome Terrain Management system allowing you to choose your terrain setting from six presets for an optimized ride.

Ford GT Supercar

The all new Ford GT supercar is one that exemplifies aerodynamics and innovation. Since its conception in 1995 and production in 2004 and beyond, the Ford GT comes immediately to mind when anyone mentions "supercar". The 2017 model drew large crowds at NAIAS for its looks, but what's most impressive are the innovations put into it. Carbon fiber components like body panels and passenger cells, combined with aluminum parts, give the GT the lightest and strongest body available on a performance car of its caliber. A lighter car means a more efficient and dynamic car, but the twin turbo-charged 3.5L EcoBoost V6 creates impressive efficiency too. You already know this car is a thing of pure beauty, but it's designed with a purpose of minimizing drag and improving handling. The GT will go into limited production later this year.

As Ford continues to innovate there will always be Ford performance vehicles to get excited about. If those didn't excite you, there are plenty "normal" vehicles that offer connectivity, design, and safety to impress like the Ford Focus and Ford F-150. Ford also has vehicles offering incredible fuel efficiency, like the 2016 Ford Fusion Energi, without compromising good looks and functionality.
