2017 Ford Super Duty Shows Off New Updates

2017 Ford Super Duty Shows Off New Updates

JACKSON, Mich. –– With automakers continuously churning out new truck models each year, it’s hard to discern which pickups are better than others. But Ford Motor Co. just made things easier for us as the 2017 Ford Super Duty shows off new updates. Ford took time to enhance a list of major aspects that improve the heavy-duty pickup in terms of brawn, brains, and performance.

A Truck That’s Built Ford Tough
You know how the saying goes: it’s what’s on the inside that counts. The all-new, high-strength steel frame that strengthens the heavy-duty truck's foundation by 24 times is what makes it a tough pickup. Additionally, Ford added more strength to the four-wheel-drive, driveline, axles, and towing components to add a little extra muscular tone to the Super Duty.

Of course, a strong outer structure matters as much inner fortitude does. That’s why Ford armored the new Super Duty with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy body designed to be impervious to dents, dints, and red rust corrosion. It also trimmed 350 pounds of baggage from the pickup while still preserving all around strength.

Heavy-Duty Technology
Who says a truck can’t be tough and smart? The new Super Duty may as well be the valedictorian of its segment considering the technology it’s equipped with. One of Ford’s innovation focal points for the pickup was improving towing through smart updates, including:

  • LED Lighting
  • Seven cameras that show different angles and monitor the area around the truck
  • Center high-mounted stop lamp camera that offers a clear view of the cargo box and trailer hookup
  • 360-degree camera system that shows an above ground view of the truck’s area
  • Trailer reverse guidance to help you reverse with or without a trailer
  • Trailer camera you can hook up for extra visibility
  • In-cab trailer tire pressure monitoring system
  • Adaptive steering technology to aid in vehicle control at low and high speeds
  • SYNC3
  • Blind Spot Information System
  • Lane departure warning to alert you of lane changing drivers
  • Adaptive cruise control and collision warning

Super Performance Capability
When a truck sheds 350 pounds, it’s inevitable it will be more agile than ever. But a meticulously designed engine is what truly enables a heavy-duty pickup to perform at the level it’s built for, and the new Super Duty offers at least five options for you to choose from:

  • 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel pushing plenty of horsepower and torque
  • 6.2L V8 gasoline engine exclusive to the F-250 equipped with the TorqShift-G transmission
  • 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel
  • 6.8L V10 gas
  • 6.2L V8 gas

Each engine offers something unique to Super Duty drivers, but there’s not doubt that they all deliver immense power to Ford’s pinnacle heavy-duty pickup. You’ll have to dream of experiencing that power until the 2017 Super Duty hits our dealership next year, but until then feel free to stop by anytime for a test-drive, an oil change, or any of your other auto service needs.

Ford Wants App Developers to Contribute to SYNC 3

Ford Wants App Developers to Contribute to SYNC 3

JACKSON, Mich. –– When it comes to forming new ideas and developing them into tangible realities that work with Ford Motor Co.’s SYNC 3 system, the automaker is telling app developers to have at it. Ford wants app developers to contribute to SYNC 3 in order to further the capabilities of the communication and entertainment system that has become a standard technology that integrates smartphones and other devices with drivers’ vehicles.

App developers now have access to a SYNC 3 development kit and vehicle data simulator software development kit that aid them in building upon SYNC features such as SYNC AppLink, a feature that allows you to use smartphone apps with voice-command and shows the apps on your SYNC screen.

The possibilities are endless with how developers can contribute to Ford’s SYNC 3. Ford has given them access to over a dozen design templates and all-new AppLink application programming interfaces with new capabilities, including:

  • Sending push notifications to the SYNC screen
  • Cloud-based voice-activated services for in-app experiences
  • Providing real-time information taken from vehicle sensors that drivers can use to customize their apps

Ford is the first in its industry to seek the creativity of app developers outside its company. Since 2013, more than 13,000 developers have registered for its developer program and over 24,000 software development kits have been downloaded. Allowing outside minds to develop apps for Ford SYNC has yielded over 90 iOS and Android smartphone apps that are compatible with AppLink, such as Pandora, Spotify, Glympse, Sina Weibo, and QQ Music.

Ford plans to expand its technological footprint in this area as it sees SYNC 3 and future editions continue to grow. App categories Ford is looking into include health and wellness, connected home, and productivity. With an array of app possibilities open to being acted upon by developers, very soon you could see a fleet of Ford vehicles at our Marshall area Ford dealer that are capable of enhancing driver safety through technological convenience that keeps you focused on the road and out of the car repair shop.

MyFord Mobile Expands to Smartwatch for Driver Convenience

MyFord Mobile Expands to Smartwatch for Driver Convenience

JACKSON, Mich. – Ford Motor Co. recently expanded MyFord Mobile to work with drivers’ smartwatches in a move that will further convenience the automaker’s customers. You can now access in-depth vehicle data from your wrist, without ever digging for your smartphone in your pocket.

Ford engineers developed the MyFord Mobile app to provide customers with features and information about their electric or hybrid vehicle, including:

  • Battery charge level to help you know ahead of time when to charge
  • Driving range to help you gauge drivable distances
  • Vehicle location to help you find your long-lost parking space
  • Vehicle mileage summary so you can tell how far your driving between charges
  • Last trip summary that includes a personal driving score and percentage of EV miles
  • Door locking so your vehicle is never left vulnerable, and unlocking for convenience
  • Remote vehicle cabin preparation so you can crank the heat or cool things down before you’re inside

As MyFord Mobile expands to smartwatches for driver convenience, it’s clear that Ford is focused on technology, but also eco-friendly development. The MyFord Mobile previous trip summary feature lets you see your miles per gallon or mpg equivalent, trip miles, and braking and driving efficiency through a display of green leaves, where the more leaves shown indicates better driver efficiency.

Additionally, the app included a Google Maps feature you can pinch and zoom with to find Ford electric or hybrid vehicle charging stations. MyFord Mobile works with Android Wear and Apple Watch smartwatch applications, and can be integrated with the Ford C-Max Energi, Ford Focus Electric, and Ford Fusion Energi. Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

The new MyFord Mobile app for the smartwatch should make it easier to determine whether or not your vehicle is in need of car repair or routine auto service by providing you with information like that listed above. But if you need help figuring out how your MyFord Mobile app functions, stop by our Dexter Ford dealer and one of our staff members would be glad to help.

Ford Adaptive Steering Improves Vehicle Control for Drivers

Ford Adaptive Steering Improves Vehicle Control for Drivers

JACKSON, Mich. – Power steering is about to get a makeover as Ford Motor Co. prepares to introduce an adaptive steering system that will improve vehicle control for drivers.

“First and foremost, all Ford Motor Company products have to offer a great driving experience,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “This new steering technology can help make vehicles easy to maneuver and fun to drive.”

Most vehicles are equipped with a fixed-ratio steering system where the direction of the front wheels directly correlates with the amount of times you turn the steering wheel. Ford adaptive steering improves vehicle control for drivers by altering the relationship between how many times you turn the wheel and how the front wheels respond to those turns.

The steering system will make it easier for you to handle your vehicle according to the context of a driving situation. At low speeds the steering wheel will require more turns to maneuver your vehicle, making it easier to gauge your positioning in instances such as pulling into tight parking spaces. At high speeds the steering wheel will require less turns so you can maintain steady control while switching lanes on the highway, for example.

Ford collaborated with engineers from TKAG, an automotive supplier based in Germany, to develop the steering system. The steering wheel contains a precision-controlled actuator – an electric motor and gearing system – that adds or subtracts from your steering inputs, according to Ford. It allows for steering accommodation, but doesn’t alter other aspects of a conventional steering system.

Ford’s adaptive steering system will debut with the 2016 Ford Edge – available in our Ford Edge inventory in the near future – and down the road will be added to other Ford and Lincoln vehicles. With such an advanced steering system, you’ll have more control than ever and be less at risk for making driving mistakes that require expert car repair and auto service.

5 Safe Driving Tips During Michigan Deer Season

4 Safe Driving Tips During Michigan Deer Season

JACKSON, Mich. – Michigan's landscape is quilted with farmland and wooded areas that serve the state's large deer population. Unfortunately, that large deer population led Michigan to experience 45,690 vehicle-deer crashes in 2014, according to Michigan Traffic Crash Facts of the Michigan Office of Highway Planning.

Michigan is ranked 10th in the nation for vehicle-deer collisions, and drivers have a 1-in-97 chance of hitting a deer, according to State Farm. To reduce your chance of a collision as deer season peaks between October and December, keep in mind these 5 safe driving tips during Michigan deer season:

  1. Pay careful attention to deer activity at night. Of Michigan’s total vehicle-deer accidents in 2014, 26,312 occurred during dark hours. This is due to deer being nocturnal animals. Use your high beams when driving on unlit roads in order to spot deer further ahead of time

  2. Watch for warning signs that deer could be nearby. This includes deer crossing signs as well as natural indications. For instance, if you’re driving on a road bordered by woods on either side you should keep an eye out. Additionally, if you see one deer on the side of the road you should assume there are more deer seeing as they usually travel in herds.

  3. Don't swerve to avoid hitting a deer. Swerving could take you into oncoming traffic or a tree, putting you and other drivers in more danger. The safest solution is to firmly apply the brakes, keep both hands on the wheel, and continue forward towards the deer.

  4. Don’t increase or maintain your speed to hit a deer, despite the popular belief that it mitigates the danger of the collision. Hitting a deer at a high speed will cause more damage because the force of impact will be greater. Hitting a deer at a slower speed will cause less damage and put you in less danger.

  5. Pull over and call the local authorities if you hit a deer. Stay in your vehicle while you wait for them to arrive, and don’t approach the deer or attempt to move it out of the road. The animal could just be in shock and you could startle it, putting yourself and other drivers in further danger.

It’s unlikely you’ll find yourself in a vehicle-deer collision, but the possibility of it happening is real. Follow these 5 safe driving tips during Michigan deer season and you can keep your chances of hitting a deer low. Unfortunately, bad luck happens and it can transform a scenic drive into a catastrophe, and after hitting a deer your vehicle could look like crumpled aluminum foil. The important thing is that you’re unharmed, but when it comes to fixing your vehicle let the experts at our Stockbridge area auto service take care of your car repairs.

2015 Ford Mustang Is the World's Best-Selling Car

2015 Ford Mustang Is the World's Best-Selling Car

JACKSON, Mich. – If you have yet to screech the tires of a 2015 Ford Mustang, you need to set up a test-drive immediately in order to experience the performance power found in either of its upgraded V6 and V8 engines, not to mention the all-new 2.3L.

When it comes down to it, Americans love the Mustang – also known as the original pony car – and especially the 2015 Mustang. But U.S. drivers aren’t the only Mustang fanatics in town; the 2015 Ford Mustang is the world’s best-selling car.

According to a study by HIS Automotive, 76,124 drivers around the world are registered owners of the 2015 Mustang, which is a 56% increase from 2014. Seeing as the sixth-generation Mustang is such a hit in foreign countries, Ford figured now is the perfect opportunity to release the car to 100 global markets for the first time.

But not every global market drives like Americans, meaning Ford can’t sell just any American Mustang in a foreign country. There are at least 25 markets – including the U.K., South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and others – that require Ford to manufacture the RHD (right hand drive) Mustang, which will be built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan.

The six-generation Mustang already was projected to outsell the Chevrolet Camaro for the first time in six years, but that notion has been cemented now that we know the 2015 Ford Mustang is the world’s best-selling car. It's most likely 2016 Camaro sales will help it close in on the Mustang, but we’re confident Ford’s original pony car will keep competitors at bay, especially with an RHD option becoming available.

To test drive a 2015 Ford Mustang, stop by Seymour Ford Lincoln, located at 2601 Seymour Road in Jackson, Michigan 49201. No matter what your auto need – oil changeauto service, car partscar repair, tires, or brakes – we will work hard to ensure you never leave our dealership unsatisfied! See the World With the 2016 Lincoln MKX 360-Degree Camera

See the World With 2016 Lincoln MKX 360-Degree Camera

JACKSON, Mich. – If you could see the world with the 2016 Lincoln MKX 360-degree camera, where would you go?

Six artists chose White Sands National Park in New Mexico as their destination, and – similar to the MKX camera’s ability to fasten together inconspicuous objects and scenery from multiple angles – were inspired to produce Surrealist images, film, and poetry from myriad points of view.

The 360-degree camera is able to capture footage in front of, above, on either side of, and behind the MKX, and can produce a 180-degree split view useful in cross-traffic instances. The Lincoln Star badge on the grille comes forward and angles up to expose the camera behind it. This mechanism and the technology used to clean the lens are a first in the auto industry.

The artists inspired to see the world with the 2016 Lincoln MKX 360-degree camera are Grant Legan, Olivia Lopez, Chris Hainley, Leslie Bembinster, Laruen Steele, and Duncan Wolf. The talents of these artists run parallel with the innovation of Lincoln. Both inspire us to take into account our own perspective as a Stockbridge area Lincoln dealer, and to improve our customers’ perspective of us as providing the best auto service available.

Seymour Ford Lincoln is located at 2601 Seymour Road in Jackson, Michigan 49201. No matter what your auto need, we will work hard to ensure you never leave our dealership unsatisfied! Visit us at SeymourFord.com and SeymourLincoln.net or give us a call at (517) 787-9500.
