2015 Ford Mustang Is the World's Best-Selling Car

2015 Ford Mustang Is the World's Best-Selling Car

JACKSON, Mich. – If you have yet to screech the tires of a 2015 Ford Mustang, you need to set up a test-drive immediately in order to experience the performance power found in either of its upgraded V6 and V8 engines, not to mention the all-new 2.3L.

When it comes down to it, Americans love the Mustang – also known as the original pony car – and especially the 2015 Mustang. But U.S. drivers aren’t the only Mustang fanatics in town; the 2015 Ford Mustang is the world’s best-selling car.

According to a study by HIS Automotive, 76,124 drivers around the world are registered owners of the 2015 Mustang, which is a 56% increase from 2014. Seeing as the sixth-generation Mustang is such a hit in foreign countries, Ford figured now is the perfect opportunity to release the car to 100 global markets for the first time.

But not every global market drives like Americans, meaning Ford can’t sell just any American Mustang in a foreign country. There are at least 25 markets – including the U.K., South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and others – that require Ford to manufacture the RHD (right hand drive) Mustang, which will be built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan.

The six-generation Mustang already was projected to outsell the Chevrolet Camaro for the first time in six years, but that notion has been cemented now that we know the 2015 Ford Mustang is the world’s best-selling car. It's most likely 2016 Camaro sales will help it close in on the Mustang, but we’re confident Ford’s original pony car will keep competitors at bay, especially with an RHD option becoming available.
