Grilling Safety Tips for Labor Day

Grilling Safety Tips for Independence Day

JACKSON, Mich. – Labor Day is one of the biggest days of the year for grilling, which also makes it one of the most dangerous. Before you layer the racks with steaks, patties, and brats, it’s vital that you follow these grilling safety tips for Labor Day:

1) Clean Your Grill
Clean your grill regularly, especially before using it, by removing grease or fat buildup from the grill racks. Many also forget the importance of cleaning the tray below your grill.

2) Stay in Close Proximity to Your Grill
Don’t leave your grill unattended! We know, it’s tempting to run inside for just a few minutes to get something else situated for your Labor Day grill out, but it’s extremely dangerous to walk away from your grill. Don’t do it!

3) Grill at a Safe Distance
Sure, you might think your deck and home are safe from a few little flames, but those can easily grow into massive flares with a few drips of grease. If you’re grilling too close to the house or on a wood surface like your deck, you could be spending Labor Day with the fire department.

4) If Using Charcoal
Charcoal grills are classic Americana, but those little coals used to heat meat can be hazardous. Before you dump your coals into a metal container after a night of grilling, make sure they’re completely cool.

5) If Using Propane
Propane is more efficient than charcoal, but don’t think this technology is entirely safer –– propane grills come with their own risks. Check the propane tank hose that goes to the grill for any leaks –– your goal is to grill, not cause an explosion.

6) Do You Smell Gas?
Remember not to let the mouthwatering aromas of meat put you in a daze. Every now and then, check for the smell of gas. If you smell gas, shut off the grill, step away and call the fire department!

7) If the Flame Goes Out
This may seem trivial, but it can be a sign of danger if your grill’s flame suddenly extinguishes. If this happens, shut off the grill and gas, and wait 15 minutes before you light it again.

We want you to have a safe time grilling, just like we want you to have safe driving experiences in the New Ford Cars and New Ford Trucks at our Grass Lake Ford Dealer. The best way to ensure you get through Independence Day without any injuries or scares is to follow these grilling safety tips for Labor Day!

Ford Vehicles Win Best Retained Value Awards

Ford Vehicles Win Best Retained Value Awards

JACKSON, Mich.– When it comes to awards, Ford might as well tell judging panels to “keep ‘em coming", especially after Ford vehicles win Best Retained Value awards from Edmunds.com.

The 2015 Ford Transit Connect van– the Edmunds.com 2015 Best Retained Value Small Commercial Van– and F-350 Super Duty pickup– the Edmunds.com 2015 Best Retained Value Heavy Duty Truck– were recognized with the award on the basis that they have the highest projected residual values after 5 years considering their average True Market Value price when sold new.

Residual value is the most conclusive factor for determining a vehicle’s total cost of ownership, which is why it’s something to write home about when Ford vehicles win Best Retained Value awards. Awards like these give clout to Ford vehicles and assure their reliability for consumers.

Edmunds.com evaluated model year 2015 vehicles introduced at the end of 2014 that had unit sales in February 2015 at or more than 25 percent of the average unit sales for their market segment. The data behind the awards says it all. Edmunds.com concluded the average retained value for the Transit Connect after five years is 47 percent, and 58.5 percent for the F-350 Super Duty.

Ford Vehicles Win Best Retained Value Awards

The Transit Connect deserves an honorable mention in the wake of receiving the Edmunds.com award, as it was also named ALG’s Best Resale Value for midsize commercial vans. In addition, the Transit Connect XLT short-wheelbase midsize van earned the Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America award in the Mini Passenger Commercial Van Category in April.

Ford Reduces Environmental Impact and Shapes Future Mobility

Ford Reduces Environmental Impact and Shapes Future Mobility

JACKSON, Mich.– As a company that manufactures environmentally friendly and energy efficient vehicles, it should be expected that Ford reduces environmental impact and shapes future mobility through other strategic initiatives.

Ford has taken a number of environmentally sound steps in the last few years, and one large step was towards reducing global waste-to-landfill. This year, Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico became Ford’s 27th zero waste-to-landfill plant.

Hermosillo's achievement means every Ford Mexico manufacturing plant is now landfill-free, pushing the company closer to its goal of reducing global waste-to-landfill by 40 percent per vehicle manufactured between 2011 and 2016, which the automaker previously reduced by 40 percent between 2007 and 2011.

Thanks to Ford’s efforts to make these manufacturing plants landfill-free, 1.5 million pounds of landfill waste have been diverted, 45 tons of plant cafeteria waste is used to enhance agricultural growth and community green areas around the plants, and solvents and scrap aluminum are being recycled, creating a series of closed-loop systems.

Achievements in Mexico aren’t the only way Ford reduces environmental impact and shapes future mobility. Ford is reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent per vehicle manufactured by 2025, and has already reduced water use by 30 percent per vehicle. In addition, Ford has spent $300 million in energy improvements on its global facilities, and is on track to reduce energy consumption by 25 percent per vehicle between 2011 and 2016. The list goes on: Ford’s use of REPREVE fiber will divert 5 million plastic bottles from landfills by integrating the recycled plastic into the 2015 F-150, making Ford the only automaker to use this specific solution to reduce its environmental impact.

Alongside its efforts to shape our future global environment, Ford developed Ford Smart Mobility, a plan that works to find solutions to societal issues such as:

  • Rapid urbanization and ensuing traffic congestion
  • Providing vehicles for a growing global middle class
  • Protecting health and air quality in developing nations
  • Adapting to shifting consumerism and priorities of Millennials
  • Conserving natural resources like energy, water and raw materials

These environmental and societal challenges are daunting tasks to tackle, but if anyone was going to find solutions to these problems it would be a company like Ford. One walk around a New Ford Car or New Ford Truck at your Grass Lake Area Ford Dealer, and you’ll see why we put our faith in Ford to make our world a better place in the years to come!

Millennials Love Ford's Quality Vehicles

Millennials Love Ford's Quality Vehicles

JACKSON, Mich.– Just when parents thought Millennials didn’t understand the value of American-made goods, a Ford survey found out Millennials love Ford's quality vehicles and prefer them over foreign brands.

Specifically, Generation Y– 23 to 24-year-olds– and Generation Z– 16 to 22-year-olds– consider American-made vehicles to be manufactured more often with quality in mind, and that’s exactly why they consider Ford one of the top three quality car brands.

It turns out Millennials prefer American-made vehicles more than their parents, and that doesn’t bother them the least bit. 72 percent say they don’t mind purchasing a different brand vehicle than that of their parents, and 91 percent believe American-made vehicles are built with an equal amount or more quality than foreign vehicles.

But what makes Millennials believe in the quality of an American brand like Ford rather than a foreign competitor? Surprisingly, it’s not their parents. When gauging the quality of a vehicle, only 40 percent of Millennials consult their parents’ for advice. With that, 38 percent prefer online reviews and 27 percent check out third-party quality rankings.

So what are the biggest factors Millennials use to determine their opinion on a vehicle? It turns out this group of consumers wants cold, hard evidence before they make a vehicle purchase. Above all else, Millennials factor in aspects like cost, gas mileage, driving quality and safety features. No wonder Millennials love Ford's quality vehicles.

Here are two takeaways from the collected survey data: Millennials love Ford, and they love to think for themselves. Those are things Ford is proud to support, and so are we! Come see what American-made looks like. We’re proud to house an inventory of the highest-quality New FordCars and New Ford Trucks at our Grass Lake Area Ford Dealership!

Ford Shows its Commitment to Military Members

Ford Shows its Commitment to Military Members

JACKSON, Mich.– It’s one thing to cruise down city streets or floor it on the highway in a Ford vehicle and feel a sense of enjoyment, a burst of energy. But nothing compares to burning rubber on a racetrack, as members of the U.S. military stationed in Europe recently had the rare opportunity to.

Ford shows its commitment to military members in various ways, but the Ford Driving Freedom ride-and-drive event was indeed different. This special event gave military members the opportunity to test-drive the Ford F-150 and Ford Mustang on Hockenheimring racetrack in Germany. The occasion provided Ford the chance to show off its vehicles to military men and women stationed overseas, but it was also a way to say thank you to them for their service by offering them a deservedly unique experience.

Germany may seem like an unusual place to host a military test-drive event, but Ford certainly didn't select the venue at random. The German Grand Prix takes place at Hockenheimring, and it's an historic and central European location that allowed for hundreds of military members stationed across Europe to participate in Ford's test-drive event.

Along with the test-drive event, Overseas Military Sales Corporation– the only on-base, factory-authorized Ford Motor Company distributor to military personnel– sponsored a contest that produced 125 winners. The contest was another way Ford shows its commitment to military members by giving troops a way to participate in community events that boost morale. While the ride-and-drive program was a trial to see how Ford can involve itself with military members, it’s likely that this event could become the basis for future Ford product launches to men and women serving overseas.

Ford already has a strong relationship with U.S. military members. In 2014 the F-150 was the top-selling vehicle for military members, and Overseas Military Sales Corporation was the global leading retailer of the Mustang. Nothing proves the mutual commitment between Ford and the men and women who serve our country more than that. But you don’t need the Hockenheimring to test-drive a New Ford Car or New Ford Truck. Stop in at our Albion Area Ford Dealership to take your next vehicle for a spin!
