JACKSON, Mich.– It’s one thing to cruise down city streets
or floor it on the highway in a Ford vehicle and feel a sense of enjoyment, a burst of energy. But nothing compares to burning rubber on a racetrack, as
members of the U.S. military stationed in Europe recently had the rare
opportunity to.
Ford shows its
commitment to military members in various ways, but the Ford Driving
Freedom ride-and-drive event was indeed different. This special event
gave military members the opportunity to test-drive the Ford F-150 and Ford Mustang
on Hockenheimring racetrack in Germany. The occasion provided Ford the chance
to show off its vehicles to military men and women stationed overseas, but it
was also a way to say thank you to them for their service by offering them a deservedly unique
experience.
Germany may seem like an unusual place to host a military test-drive event, but Ford certainly didn't select the venue at random. The
German Grand Prix takes place at Hockenheimring, and it's an historic and central
European location that allowed for hundreds of military members stationed across Europe to
participate in Ford's test-drive event.
Along with the test-drive event, Overseas Military Sales
Corporation– the only on-base, factory-authorized Ford Motor Company
distributor to military personnel– sponsored a contest that produced 125 winners.
The contest was another way Ford shows
its commitment to military members by giving troops a way to participate in
community events that boost morale. While the ride-and-drive program was a trial to see how Ford
can involve itself with military members, it’s likely that this event could
become the basis for future Ford product launches to men and women serving
overseas.
Ford already has a strong relationship with U.S. military
members. In 2014 the F-150 was the top-selling vehicle for military members, and Overseas Military Sales
Corporation was the global leading retailer of the Mustang. Nothing proves the
mutual commitment between Ford and the men and women who serve our country more
than that. But you don’t need the Hockenheimring to test-drive a New Ford Car or New Ford Truck. Stop in at our Albion Area Ford Dealership to take your
next vehicle for a spin!
