JACKSON, Mich. –– With automakers continuously churning out
new truck models each year, it’s hard to discern which pickups are better than others.
But Ford Motor Co. just made things easier for us as the 2017 Ford Super Duty shows off new updates. Ford took time to enhance a list of major aspects that improve the
heavy-duty pickup in terms of brawn, brains, and performance.
A Truck That’s Built
Ford Tough
You know how the saying goes: it’s what’s on the inside that
counts. The all-new, high-strength steel frame that strengthens the
heavy-duty truck's foundation by 24 times is what makes it a tough pickup. Additionally,
Ford added more strength to the four-wheel-drive, driveline, axles, and towing
components to add a little extra muscular tone to the Super Duty.
Of course, a strong outer structure matters as much inner
fortitude does. That’s why Ford armored the new Super Duty with a
high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy body designed to be impervious to
dents, dints, and red rust corrosion. It also trimmed 350 pounds of baggage
from the pickup while still preserving all around strength.
Heavy-Duty Technology
Who says a truck can’t be tough and smart? The new Super
Duty may as well be the valedictorian of its segment considering the technology
it’s equipped with. One of Ford’s innovation focal points for the pickup was
improving towing through smart updates, including:
- LED Lighting
- Seven cameras that show different angles and monitor the area around the truck
- Center high-mounted stop lamp camera that offers a clear view of the cargo box and trailer hookup
- 360-degree camera system that shows an above ground view of the truck’s area
- Trailer reverse guidance to help you reverse with or without a trailer
- Trailer camera you can hook up for extra visibility
- In-cab trailer tire pressure monitoring system
- Adaptive steering technology to aid in vehicle control at low and high speeds
- SYNC3
- Blind Spot Information System
- Lane departure warning to alert you of lane changing drivers
- Adaptive cruise control and collision warning
Super Performance
Capability
When a truck sheds 350 pounds, it’s inevitable it will be
more agile than ever. But a meticulously designed engine is what truly enables
a heavy-duty pickup to perform at the level it’s built for, and the new Super
Duty offers at least five options for you to choose from:
- 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel pushing plenty of horsepower and torque
- 6.2L V8 gasoline engine exclusive to the F-250 equipped with the TorqShift-G transmission
- 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel
- 6.8L V10 gas
- 6.2L V8 gas
Each engine offers something unique to Super Duty drivers, but there’s not doubt that they all deliver immense power to Ford’s pinnacle heavy-duty pickup. You’ll have to dream of experiencing that power until the 2017 Super Duty hits our dealership next year, but until then feel free to stop by anytime for a test-drive, an oil change, or any of your other auto service needs.
