New Ford Headlights will Make Drivers More Aware at Night

New Ford Headlights will Make Drivers More Aware at Night

JACKSON, Mich.– Have you ever been driving at night and come this close (as you hold your index finger and thumb just centimeters apart) to hitting an obstruction in the road before swerving away? It can be difficult to see animals, people and objects that aren’t within the restricted visible area illuminated by your headlights, which means driving at night can be a risky operation at times.

If you’ve been wishing someone would find a solution to this dilemma, you can finally relax because new Ford headlights will make drivers more aware at night thanks to Ford’s Camera-Based Advanced Front Lighting System and its Spot Lighting, systems developed from Ford’s Adaptive Front Lighting System and Traffic Sign Recognition that exist in Ford models now.

The Camera-Based Advanced Front Lighting System widens your headlight beams to expose space that lies outside your vehicle’s path that normally isn’t visible with ordinary headlights. It can also foresee your vehicle’s path using GPS so your headlights can adapt to the terrain and keep bends and dips illuminated for you.

Even if your GPS goes out, Ford has its bases covered with a forward-facing video camera installed in the rear-view mirror base. The camera detects lane markings and maps out the shape of the road for you, and stores all of the information so its available to you the next time you’re traveling that route.

Spot Lighting plays a vital role in how new Ford headlights will make drivers more aware at night by letting you know when objects are in or outside of your vehicle’s path. The system uses an infrared camera in your vehicle’s grille to highlight up to eight people or animals within 360 feet of your vehicle.

For good measure, Spot Lighting also identifies road hazards two LED lamps beside your vehicle’s fog lights to shine a spot and stripe at objects on the road. Based on their proximity to you, the spotlighted objects are represented with a yellow or red box on the screen inside your vehicle so you can see where and how far they are from you and avoid them if necessary.

There’s no telling what could be on the road when night falls, and it’s extremely important to stay aware of your surroundings when you drive in the dark. Ford’s new headlight technology will make that more feasible for you, although for now new systems are stuck in their development phases in Europe. Until they hit production, it’s worth taking a look at the New Ford Cars and New Ford Trucks at our Clarklake area Ford dealership to get an idea of what quality safe vehicles look like!
