JACKSON, Mich - The Ford F-150 Tops the List for American-Made Vehicles on Cars.com's ninth annual American-Made Index, which looks for vehicles built and bought in the United States, made with more than 75% American parts. This index is based on two key factors that can actually be found on the window sticker of any new vehicle: final assembly point and the vehicle's domestic-parts content. These labels show the percentage of U.S and Canadian parts -which by congressional mandate, the American Automobile Labeling Act includes Canada within the same "domestic" pool. Along with showing the area of where the car was built, the vehicle's label will also tell you where the engine and transmission were produced.
It should come at no surprise that the Ford F-150 Tops the List for American-Made Vehicles, not only because of its contents, but also because of the number of F-Series trucks that Ford sells each year. With a high demand comes a busy work week for the Ford factories in Dearborn, Michigan and Claycomo, Missouri. These two Ford factories, where numerous employees split three working shifts for a total of 120 hours a week, are said to produce roughly 60 trucks in just one hour. As these Ford employees work diligently to production enough of the F-Series model to meet the high customer demand, it only makes sense to have the truck's parts made domestically.
