The additional 850 jobs to Dearborn's Rouge Center were split amongst three facilities - 500 for the Dearborn Truck facility, nearly 300 for Stamping and roughly 50 for Diversified Operations. These positions are an addition to more than 3,000 hourly jobs that Ford has added across their United States manufacturing facilities this year. Ford Motor Company has surpassed their goal of creating 12,000 hourly jobs in the U.S. by 2015 with a total of 14,000 total jobs created - more than 4,000 jobs alone were added in southeastern Michigan.
Along with more employees, Ford needed to transform the Dearborn Truck Plant into a powerhouse for the aluminum-based pickup. The facility underwent the largest manufacturing transformation in decades and has been equipped with the latest in production technology. The Ford Rouge Factory Tour is also receiving a makeover, soon to feature new films, exhibits and hands-on experiences that are tied to the 2015 F-150.
Production of the 2015 F-150 is expected to begin soon and we should see the pickup in showrooms later this year.
