Before You Leave

This one should be obvious, but make sure to plan for delays whether you are traveling to your destination by plane, train, or automobile. Allow extra time for traffic delays, weather issues, delayed flights, backed up security checkpoints, etc. You can prevent becoming stressed out when you know that you have allotted extra time in your travel plans.

Should anything unfortunate occur during your weekend travels, it is always a good idea to have copies of important documents on hand. Before you leave, make copies of your drivers license/passport, credit cards, etc. and keep them in a safe place should you need them for backup.

On The Road
Like we said above, when en route to your destination, make sure to allow extra time for any delays you may encounter. With so many additional drivers on the road, it is more important than ever to practice not only safe driving but defensive driving. Stay aware of your surroundings so that you are prepared to avoid any possible dangerous driving situations. Depending on how long your drive is, make sure to pack snacks that will keep you alert and energized, and allow yourself time to take breaks so you don't end up drowsy behind the wheel.

Over The Weekend
Once you have finally arrived safely, it's time to enjoy all that summer has left to offer over Labor Day weekend! But don't forget to keep safety in mind too. NEVER get behind the wheel if you are consuming alcohol and be a good friend by not allowing anyone else to either. Ford Tests All-New Right-Hand-Drive Mustang

JACKSON, Mich - Ford is ready to test their all-new right-hand-drive Mustang, the first of its kind to roll off of the Ford assembly line. With the addition of the right-hand-drive Mustang, the iconic pony car can now be exported to more than 25 right-hand-drive markets around the globe including the United Kingdom, Australia and South America. 

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang will be going on sale this fall in the United States and making its global debut to more than 120 countries within the next year. Ford engineers have recently finished the construction of the right-hand-drive sixth-generation Mustang prototype. Several development tests are now being conducted to ensure that the pony car is ready to enter the global market in the upcoming months. 

Since the Mustang's 1964 debut, Ford has seen more than 9.2 million in sales from the United States as well as more than 161,000 Mustangs sold outside of North America during that same time period. Plug-In Vehicles and Energy Companies Communicate via the Cloud

JACKSON, Mich - Ford Motor Company and seven other global automakers are partnering up with 15 U.S. utility companies in an effort to develop a technology that will help plug-in vehicles and energy companies communicate via the cloud. What does this mean for you as a customer? Well, this technology would allow plug-in vehicles from all participating automakers to communicate with the utility companies. This will help to better manage the use and efficiency of the power grid. 

Those plug-in customers who have opted-in to the program will allow for energy companies to contact them and send a request for their car to stop charging temporarily to help manage a grid that may be overloaded. Customers will also have the option to ignore the request and continue to charge their vehicle at the location of their choice. Participating utility companies are even preparing to offer financial incentives to customers who do make their cars available to the grid, such as providing customers with discounts on air conditioning. 

Plug-in vehicles and energy companies can communicate via the cloud using some of the existing communication technology and standards, like Ford's MyFord® Mobile App. This new development will be taking this current technology and pushing to advance the systems to enable two-way communication between the electric grid and electric vehicles. 

Currently, the organizations participating in the software and hardware development and demonstration are: DTE Energy Company, PJM Interconnection LLC, CenterPoint Energy, Inc., Southern Company, Northeast Utilities, Souther California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, San Diego Gas & Electric, Commonwealth Edison, TVA, Manitoba Hydro, Austin Energy, ConEd and CPS Energy.
