Tips for a Successful Summer Road Trip!

Tips for a Successful Summer Road Trip!
JACKSON, Mich - Summer break is right around the corner folks, have you started to plan a family vacation yet? Well if you're planning on hitting the road, which many of us Michiganders do during the warm months, take a look at these helpful Tips for a Successful Summer Road Trip! Although some may seem like common sense, we all know what that flustered feeling is like right before we head out on vacation. Utilize this as a checklist that will ensure you and your family or friends have the greatest vacation yet!

1. Get Your Ride Checked Out
Seymour Ford Lincoln can help with that! Be sure to get your vehicle fully serviced prior to your departure. Change the oil, take a look at the radiator, fill the tires and be sure the wiper blades are in mint condition. It is always better to be safe than sorry, especially if you're planning on spending an extended period of time in the car.

2. There's an App for That
Take the time to download some helpful apps on your smartphone before you head out! From iGasUp helping you find the cheapest gas to Roadside America ensuring you hit all of the best tourist spots on your route. With hundreds of thousands of apps out there, take some time to search for the ones that would benefit you most on your vacation. Here are a few of our favorites: GasBuddy, License Plate Travel Game, Yelp, Trapster, Priceline Negotiator, Spotify.

3. Plan Your Pit Stops
Depending on the length of your drive, it is always good to plan a pit stop or two along the way. If you have little ones, it is always good to give them a chance to stretch their legs and run around to avoid any restlessness. Don't forget, you are important too! If you are tired, pull over and switch drivers or give yourself a break; the road will still be there!

4. Skip the Junk Food
Typically, the most accessible stores and restaurants off of the freeway have lousy healthy food options. Pack yourself a cooler full of nutritious snacks to not only save you money, but also from feeling sluggish and tired during your drive. Granola bars, cut up fruit and veggies, nuts, pretzels and yogurt all deliciously healthy options.

5. Remember, this is VACATION!
No matter how long the drive or where you end up, remember this is your VACATION! Enjoy every moment of it!
